The Parkway Asian Liver Ward (PAL), located on the 6th floor of Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore is a dedicated in-patient ward with Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facilities for patients who require treatment and/or surgery for their liver conditions. Equipped with modern, sophisticated medical equipment, PAL is designed to provide the best and one of the most advanced care for patients to ensure a comfortable and safe stay.
This unique ward within Gleneagles Hospital is solely dedicated to the care of patients with various liver conditions requiring specialised care, such as the highly complex living donor liver transplantation, liver dialysis prior to liver transplantation, liver cancer, jaundice, hepatitis, and even babies with biliary atresia. Post-surgery, patients will receive close monitoring and comprehensive care by our team of specialised, multi-disciplinary doctors, nurses and allied healthcare professionals.
PAL is jointly managed by Gleneagles Hospital and Asian Centre for Liver Diseases & Transplantation (ACLDT) - Asia's leading centre for liver diseases and liver transplantation. The collaboration has allowed for the development of clinical pathways and protocols, and the institutionalisation of many of the practices involving patient care.
PAL has achieved many significant milestones since its establishment. For example, it is the most active living donor liver transplantation unit in South-East Asia and is a well-established centre of excellence. PAL offers the option of different types of liver dialysis modalities, as well as double cascade plasmapheresis for viral clearance in its active management of patients with acute liver failure. It also utilises a specially-developed, state-of-the-art Tele-medicine device that not only allows remote monitoring of patients' conditions, but also facilitates doctors’ communication with patients and nurses anywhere, anytime.
For international patients, PAL is able to facilitate and ensure a smooth transition between the countries of residence and Singapore for both patients and their families. PAL provides a host of services which includes emergency air and land evacuation with accompanying doctors and nurses, assistance in patient repatriation documentation, and arrangements for local accommodation and transportation.
